Vegetable Multivitamin Capsules

Vegetable Multivitamin Capsules by Puhdas + contains 11 vitamins, antioxidants and minerals needed daily. Citrus bioflavonoids are antioxidants derived from vitamin-rich citrus fruits, which the human body can not only produce, but are vital substances for health.

Vitamins are nutrients found in small amounts in food and drink. They are needed for normal growth and development and to stay healthy. Vitamins are necessary components of our food in addition to essential amino acids and fatty acids. The body does not make them itself or does not make them sufficiently.

There are thirteen vitamins: fat-soluble vitamins and water-soluble vitamins. The fat-soluble vitamins are vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K. The water-soluble vitamins are vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B11 & B12 and vitamin C.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the best known vitamins; it acts as an antioxidant in the body, protecting your body cells from damage. It is needed for the formation of connective tissue, absorption of iron and maintaining resistance. Vitamin C is found in fruits and vegetables, mainly cabbage and citrus fruits, berries strawberries and kiwis.

Vitamin D

Sunlight is the most important source of Vitamin D because our bodies can produce it themselves through sunlight. Of course, it is also in our food, especially in oily fish (for example : mackerel, salmon or herring), but also in meat and eggs, only to a lesser extent. It is often added to halvarine, margarine and cooking products. In our intestines, Vitamin D is best absorbed when fats or oil are present.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin and is found only in animal products, such as dairy products, meats, fish and eggs. For this reason, vegans are advised to take a vitamin B12 supplement or products with added vitamin B12. Vitamin B-12 is bound to a protein in food. The protein is separated from the vitamin B12 in the stomach by stomach acid, among other things, and then binds to another protein in the small intestine: ‘Intrinsic Factor’. This protein only couples to vitamin B-12 in the gut while it has already been produced in the stomach. This linkage is necessary for the absorption of vitamin B-12 into the body, which happens at the end of the small intestine.

The body absorbs about 40 to 50 percent of the vitamin B-12 it takes in. It is the only water-soluble vitamin that the body stores as a “reserve supply,” involving about two to five milligrams, which is stored mainly in the liver. Vitamin B-12 (also called cobalamin) is needed for the production of red blood cells, which in turn are needed to carry oxygen in the blood. Vitamin B-12 is also needed for proper nervous system function.

Zinc

Zinc is one of the most important trace elements and is crucial for a good immune system. The health of the skin, hair, nails and eyes also depend on the adequate intake of zinc. Zinc also contributes to normal acid-base metabolism, normal carbohydrate metabolism, cognitive metabolism, DNA synthesis and reproduction, marconutrient metabolism and fatty acid metabolism.

Iron

Iron is a nutrient that plays many important roles in the body, including keeping it healthy and energized. Iron is a mineral naturally present in many foods, added to some food products and available as a dietary supplement. Low iron levels are common and can cause unpleasant symptoms such as fatigue and poor concentration. However, iron deficiency is not always easy to recognize, especially in the early stages.

Folic acid

Folic acid is a man-made version of the vitamin folate (also known as vitamin B9), which is required for normal growth and development throughout life. Folic acid helps the body make healthy red blood cells and is found in certain foods. Foods naturally high in folate include leafy vegetables (such as spinach, broccoli and lettuce), asparagus, fruits (such as bananas, melons and lemons), beans, yeast, mushrooms and meat.
