Chaga mushroom tincture – Inonotus Obliquus Extract

To ensure that you get the strongest Chaga extract, we have developed the Extraction 2.0 method – this method works through extraction with hot water and alcohol with Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction. The cell walls of mushrooms are made of chitin. The chitin cell walls can be partially broken down with alcohol. We use leading Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (UAE) technology. With the combination of water, alcohol and UAE, we are able to extract water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds from the mushrooms. UAE’s extraction method allows us to extract Chaga’s important compounds more effectively and improve the bioavailability of the compounds in our mushroom tincture. Therefore, extraction is fundamental in creating pure and potent mushroom extracts.

Reishi mushroom tincture – Ganoderma lucidum extract from Kääpä Health Biotech. Organic Reishi is grown in southern Finland on Finnish birch substrate. The substrate is FSC or PEFC certified because of our commitment to sustainable forest practices. Reishi is a mushroom and one of the most commonly used mushrooms in Asia, in countries such as China, Korea and Japan. Reishi, which is the Japanese name for the mushroom, is mainly found in literature or on the Internet under the Latin name Ganoderma lucidum or Lingzhi / Ling Zhi which is the Chinese name for the mushroom. In Dutch, we know the mushroom as the stalked lacquer mushroom.

Shiitake Mushroom Tincture – Lentinula Edodes Extract

The shiitake mushroom has a light brown to dark brown head and is known as one of the tastiest mushrooms in the world. This culinary mushroom is therefore used in a variety of tasty dishes. In addition, shiitake is naturally packed with vitamins B and D.

KÄÄPÄ means polypore in Finnish, which is the original form of mushrooms – the essence of mushrooms, so to speak. KÄÄPÄ as a company is exactly the same: focused on the origins of mushrooms. How it all began Eric Puro, CEO of KÄÄPÄ Mushrooms, began growing mushrooms in his backyard in 2014, but like all important stories from Finland, this story also begins from a sauna. KÄÄPÄ Mushrooms began in 2016 when Eric invited his friend to a sauna, who brought a friend of mycologist Lorin von Longo-Liebenstein. Those long discussions about fungi between löyly (steam) and avanto (hole in the ice) evolved into collaboration and lifted Eric’s mushroom cultivation to a whole new level. Soon an old friend Henri Lokki and Seppo Riikonen joined the co-founders. The very first mushroom growing trials were done at Seppo, and in the kitchen and garage of his wife, Arja. Shortly thereafter, marketing expert Otso Mursula joined the group and strengthened theirs in this regard through his commercial expertise from the mushroom products industry. The founders began growing mushrooms together and developing the company around the idea of mushroom biotechnology. KÄÄPÄ Mushrooms Farm Since then, the mushroom farm has steadily expanded with a thousand logs to the current cultivation of 20,000 logs for medicinal mushrooms. At the outdoor mushroom farm, we learned from nature what mushrooms need in terms of growing conditions. With the experience gained from our outdoor nursery, we know which environmental factors contribute to creating the most potent mushrooms full of the interesting compounds. Now our outdoor mushroom farm has become our research and development laboratory. Today we use all the knowledge we gained there and put it into practice in our indoor mushroom facilities. We mimic natural conditions to create the most powerful products sustainably and on a larger scale. For the mushrooms, we use the same Finnish birch substrate as on the farm. Finland has the cleanest air and water ever measured, and the clean forests ensure that our mushrooms eat the healthiest and cleanest food – the birch trees. The substrate is FSC and/or PEFC certified because of our commitment to sustainable forest practices. Based on our farm experience, we control growing conditions such as temperature, humidity, O₂ and C0₂ levels, light and added stress factors to produce mushrooms with the highest levels of compounds of interest. World’s largest chaga cultivation network KÄÄPÄ Forest is a sub-branch that promotes versatile forest use and forestry of Chaga. KÄÄPÄ Forest manages the largest Chaga cultivation network in the world. Because Chaga grows very slowly and is over-harvested in the world, we intervened to address this problem by starting this large-scale Chaga cultivation. Today, KÄÄPÄ Forest cultivates Chaga around Finland in the continuously growing network area that currently exceeds 200 hectares. Working closely with forest owners creates a truly transparent growing environment for our mushroom production. It is important for us to change the scenario of our Nordic forests being cut down for use by the paper industry – instead we support the cultivation of medicinal mushrooms in our local forests.
